Online Presence

Are you online yet?

No matter what your enterprise is, an online presence is a must these days. It’s the best way to show off your expertise, and while doing it, you can make some money as well.

There are two ways to get on the Internet – by either creating a website or a blog. The difference between the two is that a website is more formal and static and blog is more informal and allows interaction with the readers.

Blogs are becoming more and more popular because they are easier to build, and it’s an excellent way to connect with your audience, offer them information, and get their opinion on your posts.

So what’s a blog anyway?

A blog is an online journal where you share your ideas through posts, videos, pictures or anything else you think it’s worth sharing with your friends. Personal blogs are the most popular, but they can be used in many different ways. Since a blog connects people who are interested in the niche it represents, it can be used as a platform for all kinds of groups: religious, political, philosophical, hobbies, educational, business…

If you’re considering to begin a blog, I would suggest that you start using a free blogging platform to get your feet wet. Blogger.com is an excellent option. They offer nice templates and widgets and their own tutorials to help anyone to get started.

Before you start posting, decide what you are going to be talking about and who you’re going to be writing to. It’s important to decide what your niche is going to be, so that you’ll be able to attract the right audience to your blog.

Google

You have the option to pursue Google Adsense to start monetizing with your blog. It’s free to sign up with Google, and they will put in ads that are connected to your posts. You will be paid per click on the ads.

Another way to monetize is by joining an affiliate program that is connected to your niche. Then, you advertise the product in your blog and whenever someone buys it, you get paid a percentage of its value.

Whatever you do, make sure your posts are fun, informative, interesting, personable, informal, and creative. The hardest thing is to take the first step. But once you do, you start building your confidence and things become much easier.

Wishing you a happy presence online!

  • What can we do about spam comments in WordPress? It’s so annoying for bloggers! I turned off my comments until I can figure it out. I have to be checking it everyday because it’s too dangerous just to let comments publish without moderation. And the awful things that the spam talks about, I can’t stand it!
